I wrote this post in 2019 and I have come far in knowing Looker and my opinion stays same about LOOKER.

I don’t want to dismiss this post, hence this is going LIVE and I am going to try my best to add more Looker based and BI related posts. These posts would be emerging from my consulting experience :-)

I am a Business & Data Analytics consultant and have been working with different Business Intelligence softwares like Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview, SAP Analytics Cloud, and more.

I recently got my hands on Looker, a business intelligence software and was much impressed by its functionality. Listing down some points which grabbed my attention:

-No pain staking server set up or deployment trouble

-Easy set-up of development and production environment

-Great data modeling layer

-With simple join scripts, you can add data from heterogenous source to your model

-Availability of Metadata layers and concept of semantic model done right

-GitHub connection which provides integration for seamless version control

-Auto generates SQL queries

-Easy access settings

-Easy metadata building/edits

-Creating measures and dimensions are centralized

-Minimize trouble of creating many sheets or multiple versions by creating visualization in looks/tiles and reuse those looks in multiple dashboards/story boards.

-Does your end user has no Looker access but you want to share the dashboard? Simple solution share it as pdf file. You don’t need an upgraded or Pro license to do so.

- Comprehensive knowledge base

Sales Dashboard it is!

There’s more that I am yet to explore in detail. For now thought I would share what I liked about Looker. If you are starting on Looker and would like to learn about it, please feel free to drop a comment.
